September 19, 2025 | North Las Vegas, NV – The College of Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes Volleyball team showed grit and determination Friday evening inside the Coyote Event Center, battling visiting Yavapai College in an ACCAC showdown. The Coyotes kept the Roughriders on edge throughout the night, highlighted by a dramatic second set that pushed into extra points before Yavapai ultimately came away with the 3–0 victory (13–25, 26–28, 11–25).
While Yavapai opened the match strong, CSN responded with its best volleyball in the second frame. Fueled by a balanced offensive effort and timely defense, the Coyotes matched the Roughriders point for point. The set featured six ties and two lead changes as CSN pushed all the way to 26–28 before narrowly dropping the frame.
The Lady Coyotes received strong production at the net, led by freshman outside hitter
Kimora Combes, who tallied 9 kills on a .292 hitting percentage to pace the CSN attack. Sophomore middle blocker
Caidden Boggs added 6 kills, keeping the Roughriders' defense honest, while
Isabella Pereira-Liugalua chipped in 7 kills to round out the balanced offense.
First-year standout
D'Maryline Milovale also made her presence felt, hitting an efficient .400 with 3 kills in limited swings, while
Paige Gates and
Reagan Vint combined for several timely kills to spark momentum swings.
Sophomore setter
Libbie Ferreiro distributed 15 assists and kept the Roughriders on their heels from the service line with an ace. Fellow veteran
Tia Alofipo added three assists and provided energy with her consistent passing and leadership in the back row.
On the defensive side, Alofipo and
Madison Ortiz anchored the floor. Alofipo recorded 15 digs, while Ortiz added 14 of her own, both helping the Coyotes extend rallies and counter Yavapai's heavy hitters. At the net, Gates and Vint each contributed blocks that stalled Roughrider runs and gave the Coyotes valuable opportunities to turn momentum.
Although the final scoreline leaned in Yavapai's favor, the Lady Coyotes took valuable steps forward in their development. The fight in the second set showed the team's potential when firing on all cylinders, and the contributions from both veterans and underclassmen highlighted the balance across the roster.
With the result, CSN moves to 3–8 overall, 0–4 in ACCAC play, but the Coyotes remain focused on continued growth as conference play unfolds.
The Lady Coyotes will regroup and prepare for a rematch with the Roughriders on the road. CSN travels to Prescott, Arizona, on Friday, October 3, for another conference clash with Yavapai, where the Coyotes will look to flip the script and turn competitive sets into wins.
