Salt Lake City, UT (August 29–30, 2025) – The College of Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes opened their 2025 volleyball season at the Crystal Inn Invitational, hosted by Salt Lake Community College, facing a grueling four-match slate against some of the top programs in the region and country. Over two days, CSN gained valuable early-season experience against Utah State University Eastern, nationally top-ranked Florida Southwestern, Central Wyoming, and Western Wyoming.
Match 1: Utah State University Eastern 3, CSN 0
Scores: 25–14, 25–14, 25–13
The Coyotes opened the tournament against perennial Region 18 contender Utah State Eastern, and the Eagles wasted little time establishing control. CSN struggled offensively, hitting -.088 as a team, with
Dani Robinson and Isabella Pereira-Liu pacing the attack with four kills apiece.
Madison Ortiz anchored the setting effort with nine assists, while libero
Tia Alofipo collected seven digs.
USUE, meanwhile, hit an impressive .446 as a team and used a balanced attack led by Agata Zwierzynska and Emilia Zug, who each tallied six kills. Despite the sweep, CSN showed stretches of solid defense, highlighted by 25 total digs.
Match 2: #1 Florida Southwestern 3, CSN 0
Scores: 25–14, 25–10, 25–14
The Lady Coyotes drew the nation's top-ranked team in their second match, battling hard but falling in straight sets to Florida Southwestern. CSN finished with 32 total kills, led by
Dani Robinson's seven, while
Caidden Boggs and
D'Maryline Milovale each chipped in three.
Defensively, Alofipo (six digs) and
Libbie Ferreiro (six digs, one ace) worked to slow the Bucs' firepower. However, FSW's size and balance proved too much, as Patrycja Labucka (seven kills, six blocks) and Letizia Okonofua (seven kills, .462 hitting) highlighted a potent offensive effort that hit .354 as a team.
Match 3: Central Wyoming 3, CSN 1
Scores: 25–22, 25–15, 24–26, 25–18
Day two opened with CSN pushing Central Wyoming College to four sets in their most competitive match of the tournament. The Coyotes battled back from a two-set deficit to win the third 26–24, fueled by
Reagan Vint's team-high 11 kills on an efficient .385 hitting percentage.
Emma Albright and
D'Maryline Milovale added 12 combined kills, while Ortiz distributed 24 assists. CSN's serving was a bright spot with eight aces, including three from Ferreiro. However, Central Wyoming countered with strong net play, led by Rachel Workman (nine kills, .563) and Laina Whitney (nine kills, 10.5 points). Ultimately, unforced errors and a 15–9 run late in the fourth set sealed the Rustlers' victory.
Match 4: CSN 3, Western Wyoming 1
Scores: 25–21, 31–29, 20–25, 25–21
The Coyotes closed the tournament with a breakthrough victory, defeating Western Wyoming Community College in four hard-fought sets. It marked CSN's first win of the season and showcased the team's resilience.
Isabella Pereira-Liu delivered a dominant performance with 16 kills while hitting .250, while Robinson added 11 and Vint chipped in 11 more. Ferreiro provided a steady all-around effort with 13 assists, seven aces, and four digs. Defensively, Ortiz tallied 22 assists and seven digs to control the offense.
Western Wyoming was paced by Hanna Longhurst (nine kills, three blocks) and Isabel Grady (nine points), but CSN's depth and timely serving proved the difference in tight sets one and two. The Lady Coyotes closed out the match with a strong finish in set four, securing the 3–1 victory.
