Douglas, Ariz. — January 8, 2026- The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes opened ACCAC conference play with an impressive 93–80 road victory over Cochise College on Thursday night in Douglas, Arizona, improving to 10–5 overall and 1–0 in league action.
CSN set the tone early and never relinquished control, holding off several Cochise runs behind a balanced offensive effort and strong execution down the stretch. The Coyotes led 38–36 at halftime before pulling away in the second half with 55 points.
Maximus Romero delivered a standout performance, leading all scorers with 24 points while knocking down four three-pointers and going a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. Romero also added four steals as CSN forced 15 Cochise turnovers and converted them into 26 points.
Ryan Raad provided a spark in limited minutes, finishing with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including three triples. Demarion Yap added 14 points and seven rebounds, while
Gerald Patterson chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
The Coyotes' depth proved to be a difference-maker, as the bench accounted for 25 points.
Drake Watanabe scored 12 points off the bench, hitting two three-pointers and going 4-for-4 at the line, while
Ivoryon Cuffee added 11 points and five assists.
CSN shot 42.5 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from three-point range, while also converting 19-of-21 free throws (90.5 percent). The Coyotes also won the turnover battle and held Cochise to just 2-of-18 shooting from beyond the arc.
Cochise was led by Davon Jones, who finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Emmanuel Jo Samuel scored 13 points. Despite the Apaches' strong rebounding effort, CSN's perimeter shooting and late-game composure sealed the win.
The Coyotes will look to build on the momentum when they face Cochise College again on Friday, January 9, in Douglas, as the two teams wrap up the conference-opening series.
