Box Score By Devin VirissimoThe Coyotes returned home after a month on the road to face the College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles at the Cheyenne Sports Center.
The first set showed a lot of promise for both teams as they remained evenly matched in the beginning. Numerous kills from JoHanna Alvarez-Thompson and Bailey Bergquest provided early momentum for CSN. The Golden Eagles showed some fight on their end with providing key defensive stands, not allowing for the Coyotes to take a big lead. The set was tied at 16 until CSI started to pull away. Despite a late kill from Alvarez-Thompson, CSI hung on and won 25-20.
The second set started out heavily in favor of the visitors as they took an early 7-0 lead. The Golden Eagles barely allowed the ball on their side of the court at first but an ace from Olivia Stet created some momentum for the Coyotes. CSI used their height to their advantage while pulling away and taking the set in quick fashion 25-10.
After the break, the teams returned to the court for the third set and their efforts were evenly match early on. Alvarez-Thompson provided 4 kills in the Coyotes' effort to force more sets but the Golden Eagles provided key blocks to fend off the fighting Coyotes. Olivia Stet added another ace towards the end but the Golden Eagles finished off the Coyotes 25-14.
The Coyotes will host Salt Lake Community College on Saturday October 3
rd ,1:00 p.m. at the Sports Center on the Cheyenne Campus.
