Box Score
By Devin Virissimo

The College of Southern Nevada hosted the 7th ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruins this afternoon and the visitors proved to be a tough contest for the Coyotes.

The Bruins came out strong and used their height advantage throughout the match. During the first set, the teams went point for point as they were looking for weaknesses in the other. The Bruins used their defensive skills to take back possession each time the Coyotes went to serve. This strategy played heavily in favor of the visitors. Despite kills from Christina Beaver, Olivia Stet and JoHanna Alvarez-Thompson, Salt Lake pulled away in the middle of the first set winning 25-12.

The second set was even more difficult as the Coyotes gave up several aces in their effort. Alvarez-Thompson showed a lot of fight with her 4 kills as the Coyotes tried to keep pace. Stet had 2 kills of her own but the Bruins pulled away with their serving and won 25-10.

In the third set, the Coyotes could only do their best as the Bruins tried to improve on their NJCAA rankings by not allowing the Coyotes to control the tempo. Using their height to their advantage, along with precise serving, Salt Lake finished off CSN 25-4 and wons the match in straight sets.

CSN will face Snow College, Tuesday October 6th at 7pm in the CSN Sports Center at the Cheyenne Campus.
