Box Score Twin Falls, ID- The Lady Coyotes night started with
JoHanna Alvarez-Thompson recognized as part of the Region 18 Honorable mention team, which gives her the distinction of being the first CSN Volleyball player to receive post season awards.
After the ceremony the Coyotes took the floor for their first ever Region 18 tournament match. They were the #7 seed and slatted to play the #2 seed Salt Lake CC Bruins.
The Coyotes were able to start fast and held an early lead versus the Salt Lake City CC Bruins 7-4. The Bruins however would claw their way back and take the lead late in the first set and relinquish it. The Bruins took set one 25-19.
The Second set the Bruins kept the momentum going and jumped out to an early lead but this time it was the Coyotes who would fight back keeping the match close. Midway through the second set the Bruins were able to make a couple defensive stands and turned them into offense and pulled away winning 25 – 16.
After a short break the teams took the floor for the third set.
Although the Coyotes played hard and showed a lot of heart they could never get the momentum back on their side. The Bruins managed to win every key rally and keep the pressure on the Coyotes. The Bruins won the set 25-13 and the match 3-0.
Bailey Bergquist led the team in kills with 8 followed by
Olivia Stet with 7.
Olivia Larson and
JoHanna Alvarez-Thompson finished the match with 5 kills.
Christina Beaver had a good night dishing out 25 assist. On the Defensive side of the ball
Hannah Karas was able to record 17 digs in the Match.
This completed the inaugural season for the Lady Coyotes and they will head back to Las Vegas tomorrow and start work on next season.
