I'm James Hernandez and welcome back to another edition of "Keeping up with the Coyotes" on CSN Streamin' Radio. This week I was able to catch up with CSN relief pitcher Brett Bovee to talk some Coyotes baseball.by James HernandezJames: When this season has finally reached a conclusion, what is it that you are going to miss most about being around this group of teammates?
Brett: With this group here I am just going to miss how close we are. Over the year we have grown into a family and it will be hard to say our goodbyes whenever this journey for us is finally complete. Up to this this point in my baseball career I have not been around a group of guys that care for one another more than we do here, the connection we share is truly unbreakable.
James: How has the team formed such a unique bond or the season?
Brett: I think the sophomore's on the team who were freshman last year saw the disconnect with the 2014 team and were determined to establish a better team chemistry with this years group of guys. Each and every sophomore on the team made a conscious effort to be better teammates to the incoming freshman and it just grew from there.
James: What hobbies or interests do you enjoy outside of baseball?
Brett: I'm a huge gamer! I love to play video games in my free time, I actually just picked up Grand Theft Auto Five for Xbox One and I was even able to get in a couple "heists" last night which is always a good time.
James: What made you choose the Xbox One over the Playstation 4?
Brett: Halo. Ever since the first Halo game came out I pledged my allegiance to the Xbox gaming console and I have remained loyal to the brand ever since.
James: What is your favorite genre of music and who are a few of your favorite artist's?
Brett: It would have to be Hip Hop. Some artist's I enjoy listening to are Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky and Big Sean.
James: Do you have any pre game rituals or superstitions that you stick to before each game?
Brett: I don't personally, but there is one that we all have as a team. We have a team mascot named "Knock" who we keep around to bring us some luck. For the listeners who are unaware Knock is a bug who has been deceased since the first weekend, but we continue to keep him around for good luck.
James: What made you want to begin your collegiate career here at CSN?
Brett: When coach Garritano began recruiting me he talked about an idea where the best local talent in Las Vegas would come together from different high schools throughout the Vegas valley and play with one another on one team. Being a local Las Vegas kid this idea truly excited me, I think it is really cool that he has been able to keep the program 80-90% local.      Â
James: What has it been like to play for a coach like Nick Garritano these past two years?
Brett: At times it can be tough. Coach Garritano isn't afraid to challenge his players to be their very best and that might mean some "tough love", but at the end of the day I feel that his coaching methods are both effective and inspiring.
James: Is this the most talented pitching staff you have ever been a part of?
Brett: 100%. The talent that exists on this team is some of the best in the country. You can't ever take things lightly or for granted because at the end of the day there may be another guy waiting to outshine you and take your spot in the rotation or out of the bullpen. Iron sharpens iron and I feel as if that is the exact type of friendly competition we have amongst one another in that locker room.
James: When did you develop your "Tim Lincecum" type wind up?
Brett: It wasn't until I was a little older and my Dad brought him and his style to my attention. I began to experiment with it and it has been something that has worked for me over the years. I have gone away from it a bit due to some mechanical issues, but for the most part I continue to be effective pitching that way.
James: What ares your plans after you finish up here at CSN?
Brett: I plan to attend the Academy of Art University in San Francisco California to pursue a Bachelors of Science in game programming, as well as continue my collegiate baseball career. Hopefully I can turn my love for video games into a career and see where it takes me.
James: What will it take for this team to win it all?
Brett: Score more runs than our opponents.
James: Short and sweet, I love it. Thank you for your time today Brett and best of luck to the Coyotes as the team prepares for postseason play in less than 48 hours.   Â
