Henderson, NV- After playing into the wee hours of Sunday morning, the Coyotes had only nine hours to regroup and get ready for a 12:30 pm matchup with the Gateway Community College Geckos in the final game of the 2016 Coyote Border Battle.

Coach Garritano started local freshman Mikey York, but took a "Johnny Wholestaff" approach to the game after his Coyotes played a combined 25 innings the previous two days.

CSN got the scoring started in the bottom of the first with three consecutive RBI singles from Blake Wiggins, Jordan Hand and Jarrett Perns to give the home team a 3-0 lead.

CSN added a pair of runs in the second and a single run in the fifth as they took a  6-3 lead into the top of the ninth inning, but 2015 SWAC closer of the year Alec Hutt was unable to hold a three run lead.

A two out error brought the tying run to the plate and the Gecko's made it count when designated hitter Marcus Ybarra launched a three bomb to left center to its the game up a 6.

With the entire Coyote team in shock from the previous hit, Kevin Gonzalez got a fastball up and didn't miss it. 400 unhappy feet later the Gecko's had surged ahead to take a 7-6 lead.

A stunned CSN offense was unable to rally in the bottom of the ninth as the Coyotes fell to the Gecko's by a final score of 7-6.
