The #11 seed College of Southern Nevada men's soccer team continued its improbable title run versus the #2 seed Monroe College Mustangs (NY) Monday afternoon in its opening match of the 2016 Men's Division 1 National Championship tournament.
CSN made this improbable postseason run by playing exceptional defense and limiting its opponents scoring opportunities, however that was easier said than done against arguably the most explosive offense in all of junior college soccer.
Monroe College forward Felipe Hideki scored the first goal of his two goals just three minutes into the match and teammate Evan Finnegan added a first half hat trick as the Mustangs trampled an overmatched CSN defense on its way to scoring nine first half goals.
Freshman midfielder's
Nathan Reyes (38th minute) and Momodou "Mo" Kinteh (50th minute) found the back of the net for the Coyotes, but it was too little too late as they fell to the Mustangs by a final score of 9-2. CSN will play a must-win match Tuesday afternoon versus the Daytona State College Falcons (FL) at 3:00 PM (CST).
