The atmosphere is always intense for a game between in-state rivals Western Nevada and CSN, but the stakes were even higher with control of the SWAC hanging in the balance.

Long Beach State commit Aj Jones took the mound and set the tone for his Coyotes with 5.1 innings of work to earn his seventh victory of the season.

Offensively the Coyotes were led by shortstop Jay Martz, catcher Drew Newson and first baseman Brody Westmoreland.

The trio accounted for all eight of the Coyotes RBI's and six of the teams eleven hits. Sophomore Alec Hutt came on in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn his team leading seventh save of the season.

CSN defeated WNCC 9-6 in game one of the weekend.
