After three consecutive weekends away from the den, the Lady Coyotes returned home to host the fifth ranked SLCC Bruins on Fan Appreciation Weekend and Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the ball park.
CSN came out the gate swinging some hot bats, scoring a pair of runs in the home half of the first inning and taking a 2-1 lead over one of the top offensive teams in the country. Unfortunately, the Bruins would score the games next fourteen runs and take a commanding 15-2 lead.
The Lady Coyotes would rally for three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning highlighted by
Chandie Perez's second RBI of the day, bringing her team leading total to 32.
Frailey would allow six runs (2 earned), eleven hits, 4 walks and five strikeouts to improve her record to 12-2 on the year. SLCC defeated CSN 15-6 in game one of the weekend, Coyote starter
Jaycie LeBaron fell to 3-12.
Lefty ace Kylie Everil took the mound for the Bruins in game two and was overpowering in her complete game one hit shutout of an overmatched Lady Coyotes lineup.
Without centerfielder
Maggie Manwarren who sprained her thumb in game one of the series, CSN was without its offensive catalyst for the remainder of the weekend. Salt Lake was able to score multiple runs in three of their five offensive innings en route to a 10-0 victory in game two of the weekend.
Third baseman
Chandie Perez was able to break up the no-hitter with a double to right centerfield with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kylie Everil earned win her thirteenth victory while CSN starter
Jaycie LeBaron dropped to 3-13.
Saturday was a very special day at the park as CSN paid tribute with its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
Addie Jensen put her perfect 8-0 season record on the line for SLCC against CSN wins leader
Shonda Badayos (6).
The game was scoreless going into the top of the third inning, but the Bruins bats came alive the second time around the batting order, striking for five runs and ending Badayos' day after just two innings of work.
Coyote centerfielder
Justin Garganese would plate
Anysa Calderon in the bottom of the third with an RBI double, but unfortunately for CSN that would be the only run scored all afternoon.
Salt Lake responded with three run innings in the top of the fourth and fifth innings to extend its lead to ten. Brittni Chase would pitch a perfect bottom of the fifth inning to secure the win for Salt Lake.
The Bruins defeated the Coyotes 11-1 in game three of the series, Jensen improved to 9-0 and
Shonda Badayos lost game number 13 of 2016.
Game four of the weekend could be summed up in two words, Rae Gall. The front runner for 2016 SWAC player of the year almost singlehandedly took down CSN, finishing just a single short of the cycle and producing a game high 5 RBI.
Three Bruin arms combined to two-hit the Coyotes in the final game of the weekend, while striking out five and not allowing a single free pass. Starting pitcher
Shonda Badayos and outfielder
Kadence Coito tallied the only hits for CSN, as the Coyotes were blanked for the second time in the series.
Lauren Frailey earned her team leading thirteenth victory for Salt Lake and
Shonda Badayos (6-14) took the loss for the Lady Coyotes.
Our Lady Coyotes head to Twin Falls, Idaho this weekend to play a four game series versus the tenth ranked CSI Golden Eagles beginning Friday afternoon.
