Before the team's monster home matchup with defending SWAC regular season champion Salt Lake CC, CSN had a business trip to Rangely, Colorado where they would meet a Spartans program, that had yet to defeat the Coyotes in three previous meetings.
CNCC forward Jesus Hernandez got the Spartans on the board just five minutes into the match, beating reigning SWAC goalkeeper of the year
Miguel Navarrete for a rare tally to give the home team a 1-0 edge. Musio Jiminez (assisted by
Manuel Ponce) scored the equalizer at the 19:49 mark of the first half to even things up 1-1. The match remained even until midfielder
Stefan Skrinjaric converted another money pass off the foot of
Manuel Ponce into a goal that gave the Coyotes a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
Marcos DelAngel-Parra (assisted by
Stefan Skrinjaric) and
Luis Olandez found the back of the net less than 2 minutes apart to expand Southern Nevada's lead over Colorado Northwestern to 4-1. David Moreno beat the Coyotes backup goalkeeper
Chaz Ramsey in the 81
st minute to cut the deficit to 4-2, but
Manuel Ponce (assisted by
Manny Jahuey) put the game on ice just one minute later with his third point of the match. This would be the first goal to once again extend the lead to three goals. CSN defeated CNCC 5-2 Friday afternoon to remain unbeaten in SWAC play.
Former Sunrise Mountain freshman
Manuel Ponce got Saturday's match off to a scorching start by netting a pair of goals within the first ten minutes of the match to put Southern Nevada up 2-0 before each team was able to break a sweat. David Moreno scored his second goal of the weekend for CNCC to momentarily cut the Spartans deficit in half 2-1, however CSN would answer the goal with three of its own. Freshman standout and former Bonanza Bengal struck for a pair of unassisted goals in the 27
th and 35
th minute and forward
Christian Pango exploded for a score of his own, to give the Coyotes a 5-1 lead heading into intermission.
Oscar Rodriguez and Momodou "Mo" Kinteh scored just eight minutes into the second half and just like that the blowout was on.
German Martinez,
Axel Catalan and
Oscar Rodriguez added to CNCC's misery with second half goals of their own as CSN rolled CNCC 10-2 to complete a 2-0 "business trip" to Colorado.
