Another road test awaited the College of Southern Nevada Men's soccer team this past weekend in Walnut, California where the Mounties of Mount San Antonio College prepared to give the Coyotes another non-conference test, as the team continued to navigate its way through a tough 2018 schedule.
The Mounties came out with a pressure attack offensively that may have caught Southern Nevada a bit off-guard to begin the match. The relentless pressure paid dividends for Mt.Sac as they put one past CSN's
Luis Chavez in the 18
th minute to claim an early advantage in a match that saw its fair share of momentum swings.
Mount Sac. dictated the pace of play for the majority of the opening half and as a result took a 1-0 lead into intermission.
Fortunately for Southern Nevada coach Hawkins and his staff are amongst the best at making second half adjustments, and once again that reputation preceded itself in the second half if this one. CSN found openings in the Mount Sac defense getting the ball in position to attack, and despite being out-shot 8-5 in the second half the Coyotes were able to seize some momentum of the match in the 69
th minute.
Jesus Gonzalez found the back of the Mounties net with an unassisted equalizer that leveled the match 1-1.
Both sides sold out with 21 minutes of well-executed soccer down the stretch, however neither side was able to penetrate the opposing defense.
This defensive war fittingly ended in a 1-1 draw with both sides feeling that victory was within reach. The draw dropped CSN to 4-1-1 through six matches in 2018.
Fans your Coyotes will be back in action at the "Den" Friday September 21
st and Saturday September 22
nd in a conference clash with the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans.
