Following a loss and draw last weekend in Price, Utah the College of Southern Nevada set its sights on a road victory in Walnut, California versus a scrappy Mount San Antonio College club ,that would prove to be a tough test for this young group of Lady Coyotes.
Both sides opened up the match with a defensive mindset and intensity that made the pace of play a bit stagnant in the opening 45 minutes of play. Despite outshooting the Mounties 9-2 in the opening half of play both sides retired to halftime without registering a goal in the match.
After registering nine shots in the opening half of play, it was only a matter of time until a persistent Southern Nevada team would get one past the Mount Sac keeper and in the 61
st minute persistence paid dividends.
Brooke Haley converted a great feed off the boot of
Lianna Soifua into a 1-0 edge for her Lady Coyotes.
The match remained close until
Ashlee Jordan found the back of the Mounties net after a sick dime from
Brianna Duran to extend CSN's lead to 2-0 in the 80
th minute.
Southern Nevada continued to suffocate Mt. Sac defensively and held on for the 2-0 shutout victory.
The win improved CSN's season record to 4-1-1 through 6 matches in 2018.
Fans your Lady Coyotes will be home this weekend to host some more high level junior college soccer.
