Southern Nevada Soccer Faces Tough Road Trip To Salt Lake & Reno

Southern Nevada at #4 Salt Lake | Southern Nevada at Truckee Meadows

HENDERSON, Nev. (October 9, 2019) – The College of Southern Nevada men's soccer team is having an interesting season, mixed with encouraging highs and disappointing lows.

The mixture of highs-and-lows predictably leaves CSN with a mark of 6-4-3 and a record of 1-2-3 in Scenic West play. The three ties in league play shows the Coyotes are close to coming together in future matchups and are excited to do so in important matchups with nationally-ranked Salt Lake Community College and in-state rival Truckee Meadows Community College.

CSN coach Geoff Hawkins said his team is excited to have a new start in their matches this weekend.

"Last weekend's defensive effort really improved and set the tone for this weekend's matches," he said. "Salt Lake is a formidable opponent with fast and dynamic attackers. We must execute our game plan in order to contain their offense."

Salt Lake has been nationally-ranked throughout the season and deservedly so. The Bruins are a league-best 7-0 in Scenic West play and 9-0-1 overall; Salt Lake's only blemish is a tie with then-No. 1 Pima Community College.

Truckee Meadows has had an up-and-down start to play in the NJCAA, in a season that has been similar to Southern Nevada's. TMCC is 2-3-2 and the Lizards finished in a 0-0 tie with the Coyotes in their first matchup this season. Truckee Meadows is coming off a 6-1 win over Colorado Northwestern and will play Snow College on Thursday.

Southern Nevada's Thursday match at Salt Lake is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. The Coyotes will travel on I-80 across northern Nevada and play at Truckee Meadows Community College at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. CSN's next home match is scheduled for Oct. 17 against Colorado Northwestern.
