HENDERSON, Nev. (October 9, 2019) – The momentum around the College of Southern Nevada women's soccer team is palpable, thanks to a program-lifting win surrounding the program.
CSN earned a 1-0 win over then-No. 6 Snow College in Ephraim last Saturday, representing the highest-ever ranked team the Lady Coyotes have defeated; it also represented the first loss of the season for the Badgers. Southern Nevada also used the win to work itself back into position for the league's second-place spot with the win.
The victory has given the CSN program considerable energy; a feeling that CSN coach
Geoff Hawkins is eager to capitalize on this weekend in road matches at No. 5 Salt Lake and Truckee Meadows.
"After a great win at Snow, this team is hungry to continue getting positive results," he said. "Both Salt Lake and TMCC have size and speed advantages. We must defend with numbers in order to neutralize their athletic advantage."
Southern Nevada will have a tremendous opportunity to make noise heading into a matchup with No. 5 Salt Lake. The Bruins, who are undefeated in league play, enter the match on Thursday with a record of 8-0-1 and 6-0-1 in league play. SLCC's only blemish is a tie with Snow College.
Saturday's matchup with in-state rival Truckee Meadows will give Southern Nevada a chance to earn the season-sweep over the rival Lizards in Reno. CSN earned a 3-1 win over Truckee Meadows at Heritage Park early in league play. Southern Nevada has a perfect 4-0 record entering this weekend.
The Lady Coyotes' match with nationally-ranked Salt Lake is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The team will travel across northern Nevada to Truckee Meadows for a match at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
