#16 Southern Nevada Men's Soccer Opens Conference Play At Home vs Snow College

| By:

HENDERSON, Nev. (September 12, 2019) – The College of Southern Nevada men's soccer team has much to celebrate in advance of its Scenic West Athletic Conference opener Thursday.

The Coyotes are nationally-ranked at No. 16 in the latest NJCAA polls, giving the team momentum after a 3-0 win over Western Wyoming to finish off the preseason. Now, with the league opener against Snow College looming on Thursday, CSN is looking to add to its chest of optimism.

Southern Nevada coach Geoff Hawkins said he likes where his team is at entering league play.

"We are happy with the team," he said. "We responded well last Friday and have been working in some weak areas we discovered in our loss. The team is in good spirits and we are confident going into our first conference match. We need to improve on our ability to focus on the small details for 90 minutes."

CSN will play its league-opener on Thursday against Snow College before heading out on the road in a non-conference matchup. Snow is 3-1 to start the season, with a season-opening loss to Laramie County Community College and then three consecutive wins. CSN will play Mt. San Antonio College on Sunday in Southern California in non-conference action.

Hawkins said his team will utilize both matches to improve.

"League play always raises the intensity of the matchups," he said. "As only the top 4 teams qualify for region this year, every match is critical. The returners have been talking about the start of conference since the first day of training, so the players are excited to say the least."

Southern Nevada's match against Snow College will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Heritage Park in Henderson. The match at Mt. San Antonio is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start on Sunday. CSN will host a pair of Scenic West matches next weekend.
