Coyote Men's Soccer Looks To Rebound On The Road With Two Key SWAC Matches

HENDERSON, Nev. (September 25, 2019) – A tough week saw the College of Southern Nevada men's soccer team lose votes in the NJCAA national polls.

In spite of the adversity, the Coyotes are in position for a rebound this week with two competitive matches on the road in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. CSN will travel to play at USU Eastern and Colorado Northwestern, following up a week where they earned a draw with an in-state rival and fell to a nationally-ranked league foe.

CSN coach Geoff Hawkins said his team is in a unique position preparing for the two road matches.

"We must be able to raise our competitive spirit in order to compete with a top-five program this weekend," he said.

After starting the season at 4-0, the Coyotes have gone 1-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in Scenic West play. However, optimism is easy to find in the CSN storyline with individual players such as Luis Gallardo continuing to have strong performances. Southern Nevada will take that optimism to face a USU Eastern team that is 1-1-1 to start the season in the Scenic West, with a double-overtime win over Truckee Meadows Community College. Colorado Northwestern is just 1-3-1 on the season, with a tie against USU Eastern.

Hawkins noted the importance of the upcoming week's matches for his team.

"We have a key road trip this weekend with two chances at vital wins," he said.

Thursday's match at USU Eastern will start at 12:00 p.m. The match against Colorado Northwestern is scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. start. This trip is the start of a five-match road trip for the Coyotes.
