Lady Coyote Volleyball Travels To The Grand Canyon State For Three Matches

HENDERSON, Nev. (September 5, 2019) – After a strong start to the 2019 season, the College of Southern Nevada volleyball team faced significant adversity in a Yavapai College tourney last weekend that featured some of the top teams in the nation.

The Lady Coyotes will regroup this weekend after falling in four consecutive matches in Arizona, playing a trio of matches in the Phoenix area with hopes of rediscovering their momentum. With just two weekends left in non-conference action, the team is preparing to rebound.

CSN coach Chris Vergnaud said the team had its struggles in action at the Yavapai tourney.

"Last weekend told me we have a lot of work to do," he said. "However, the most telling part was we needed to learn how to finish sets. Our focus this week will be on setting consistency and finishing."

Southern Nevada will play a trio of matches in Arizona this weekend, including a pair of matches on Friday against Pima Community College and Chandler-Gilbert Community College. The Lady Coyotes will also play against Phoenix College on Saturday.

Vergnaud said the team is excited for their matches in Arizona this weekend.

"I am not worried about putting game plans together for the opposing teams this weekend," he said. "We have to do a better job of controlling our side of the net. Our focus this week will be to work on the intangibles, continue to get better at our setting placement, and work on finishing."

The Lady Coyotes will host a tournament next weekend at the CSN Sports Center in North Las Vegas, hosting matches throughout the weekend. CSN will play against Central Wyoming and Arizona Western on Sept. 12, with a match against Parkland College on Sept. 14. CSN will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play on Sept. 28.
