Las Vegas, NV, June 27, 2023 – The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Athletics Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Yvonne Wade as the new Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. With over 20 years of successful leadership experience in intercollegiate athletics, Wade brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. She replaces Dexter Irvin, who retired this year.
Wade's extensive background in team building and commitment to fostering an inclusive working environment will further strengthen the Athletics Department's mission of providing a supportive and empowering experience for student-athletes. Her proven ability to effectively motivate and manage both staff and student-athletes will contribute to the overall success of CSN's athletic programs.
With a strong focus on fiscal responsibility, Wade has demonstrated her proficiency in managing large budgets and resources effectively. Her strategic approach to fundraising and revenue generation will ensure the continued growth and development of CSN's athletics programs, as well as the exploration of new sources of income. In addition to her professional achievements, Wade is deeply committed to serving the community through active participation in charitable events and organizations. Her dedication to making a positive impact aligns with CSN's values and mission to uplift and inspire the youth in our community.

Wade's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Colorado in Boulder and a Master of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis on Athletic Administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She has also completed the UNLV Provost Leadership Development Academy Fellowship, further enhancing her leadership skills and abilities.
Prior to joining CSN, Wade served as the Director of Track and Field & Cross Country at the University of Nevada Las Vegas for over a decade. During her tenure, she achieved remarkable success, earning three Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year titles and guiding her teams to numerous championships and national competitions. Her athletes consistently excelled academically, maintaining impressive GPAs and graduation rates.
As an accomplished athlete herself, Wade's notable achievements include representing Japan in the 1996 (Atlanta) and 2000 (Sydney) Summer Olympics, where she competed in the 100m hurdles. She held the Japanese record in the 100m hurdles for several years and was an eight-time Japanese national champion.
