The Lady Coyotes opened up the 2017 season playing four games in 48 hours as part of the 2017 Lady Coyote Volleyball Classic.
CSN opened up play Friday afternoon versus Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Southern Nevada came out hot early, claiming the opening set 24-14, however Chandler-Gilbert responded by taking the next two sets by a score of 25-17 and 28-26. With their backs against the wall, the Lady Coyotes fought back to claim the fourth set 25-22, forcing a winner-take –all fifth set. Both teams laid it all on the line, but it was CGCC edging out CSN 15-11 to take the match 3-2 in five sets.
Jaycie Johnson paced the Lady Coyotes in kills with 11,
Carlee Becker chipped in with 26 assists and
Esmeralda Solano came through with a team high 22 digs.
Saddleback Community College made their second consecutive appearance in the Lady Coyote Volleyball Classic in 2017, and the Gauchos had revenge on the brain after dropping a match to the Lady Coyotes 3-1 in last year's tournament. Saddleback came out of the gate on point, claiming the first two sets 25-11 and 25-17. CSN was able to regroup to claim a competitive, back and forth third set 25-23. The Gauchos came out determined to get claim the match in set four, outlasting Southern Nevada 25-18 in set four to win the match 3-1. Former Desert Oasis standout
Emily Ragsdale led CSN with 5 kills,
Carlee Becker provided a match high 12 assists and
Jacquie Yapching produced a team high 6 digs.
Following a pair of competitive matches to open up day one of tournament play, the Lady Coyotes entered day two determined to claim its first victory of the 2017 season.
Unfortunately for CSN, the Sheridan College Generals had other plans. The Generals and Coyotes battled point for point in an extremely competitive match, however the experience of the Generals was able to win out versus Southern Nevada. Sheridan College defeated CSN in straight sets (25-22, 25-21 and 25-19) dropping the Lady Coyotes to 0-3 on the year. For the third consecutive match

Logan DeLong contributed a team-high 14 assists and
Jacquie Yapching produced 8 digs.
The final match of the weekend for Southern Nevada was versus Laramie County Community College. The Golden Eagles brought a balanced attack to the match versus the Coyotes, keeping CSN at bay as they controlled all facets of the match. Despite a strong effort from Southern Nevada, Laramie County was able to dispatch them in straight sets (25-21, 25-14, 25-18) dropping them to 0-4, despite a spirited effort throughout the tournament.

Kathy Hernandez had a great all-around game, pacing the match in Aces (1), Blocks (6) and Digs (10).
Fans your Lady Coyotes will be in Prescott, Arizona this weekend to participate in the team's first road tournament of the 2017 season.
