HENDERSON, Nev. (February 7, 2023) – After a frenetic pace over the past few weekends, the College of Southern Nevada Athletic Department will have a relatively slower week of competition.
CSN will host Scenic West Athletic Conference games in Men's-and-Women's Basketball on Saturday day, then will host a non-conference series in Baseball. CSN Softball is taking a week off from competition.

Baseball: The CSN Baseball team has had a fast start to the 2023 season, posting a mark of 6-2 to start the year.
Southern Nevada will have an additional chance to build on that momentum with a four-game series this weekend, facing off against South Mountain Community College. SMCC swept Scenic West rival Salt Lake to open its season.
Friday's games will start at 4:00 p.m., while Saturday's games start at 11:00 a.m.
Men's Basketball: With just weeks left in the season, the CSN Men's Basketball team has pulled into third place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings.
Southern Nevada has three weeks left of conference play, starting this weekend with a home game against Colorado Northwestern. CSN is 2-0 on the season against the Spartans, looking for a season sweep over CNCC.
Coyotes coach
Russ Beck said his team is looking forward to facing an underrated CNCC program.
"CNCC plays hard from the tip to the final horn, and we need to match their effort," he said. "We need to use this long week to improve some of our weaknesses as a team and make them our strengths."
With the season winding down, and with the specter of the postseason fast approaching, Beck noted how it's important for both players and coaches to stay fresh.
"We laugh," he said, noting a critical part of team's plan for success. "We divide up responsibilities and allow time to do some different things. We also stay focused on the task at hand, which is chasing the third seed."
Women's Basketball: The time for the CSN Women's Basketball team to catch fire is now.
Southern Nevada is currently in fifth place in the Scenic West standings, outside of the magic number to qualify for the Region 18 tournament, with three weeks left in the season. CSN will play a single game this weekend, hosting Colorado Northwestern at 1:00 p.m. inside the Coyote Event Center.
Lady Coyotes coach
Dan Savage said his team senses the urgency of the moment.
"We look forward to the rubber match with CNCC," he said. "We split our two games with them in Rangely a few weeks ago. They have some tough players and play hard each possession. Our team seems to be finding a groove and we are looking for back-to-back wins at home."
