CSN Women’s Basketball Rolls Past South Mountain with 91-45 Win

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Women's Basketball team showcased their dominance on the road, defeating South Mountain Community College 91-45. The Coyotes remain undefeated at 3-0, powered by a fast-paced offense and unyielding defense that allowed them to lead from start to finish.

First Quarter Statement

CSN opened with a scorching 30-7 first quarter, setting the tone with high-energy play and efficient scoring. Saroiya Ajomale led the charge with a team-high 20 points, contributing to the Coyotes' commanding start. Kayla Terry added to the early momentum, scoring 19 points and pulling down 12 rebounds, making her presence felt in the paint.

Relentless Offense and Strong Defense

The Coyotes' offensive onslaught continued in the second quarter, outscoring South Mountain 21-12 to take a 51-19 lead into halftime. The team excelled in both fast-break situations and second-chance opportunities, finishing with 22 fast-break points and 34 second-chance points. On defense, the Coyotes forced 25 turnovers and scored 32 points off those errors, with Adrienne Puletasi adding 16 points and nine rebounds to round out the frontcourt dominance.

Balanced Attack in the Second Half

CSN's depth shone through in the second half, with bench contributions helping to maintain their lead. Brianna Mendez hit three from beyond the arc, tallying 9 points overall, while Trysta Barrett added another six points and led the team in assists with four. The Coyotes were relentless on the boards, grabbing 53 total rebounds, including 23 offensive boards, which they converted into critical second-chance points.

Shooting 47.1% from the field, CSN controlled the game despite struggling from long range, making just 3 of 26 three-point attempts. Their interior play and defense, however, kept them firmly in control, limiting South Mountain to just 25.7% shooting and only 16.7% from beyond the arc.
