Coyotes built an early lead against Western Nevada College, scoring three runs in the first inning, en route to a 7-2 win on Friday.

Dacia Sykes racked up three RBIs on two hits for Coyotes. She homered in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Megan Mello baffled Western Nevada College, striking out six batters. Mello allowed one earned run on seven hits and two walks over seven innings.

After posting two runs in the fifth, Coyotes again scored two in the sixth. In the fifth, Coyotes scored on an RBI single by Rebekka Gross, plating Vanessa Sanders.

Two runs in the top of the seventh helped Western Nevada College close its deficit to 7-2. An RBI single by Katilyn Covione and a single by Makaylee Jaussi triggered Western Nevada College's comeback. Coyotes closed the game when Mello got out Melanie Mecham.
