EPHRAIM, UT. (November 8, 2019) – The 2019 season for the College of Southern Nevada volleyball team has come to an end.
The Lady Coyotes were defeated by defending NJCAA champion Southern Idaho in the opening round of the Region 18 tournament Friday, falling 3-0 to the Golden Eagles (19-25, 16-25, 22-25). The loss leaves Southern Nevada's overall record at 4-21.
Southern Nevada struggled against CSI's strong defense, committing 22 errors in the face of the attack. CSN held a narrow edge in kills – 43-39 – but had a hitting percentage of just .157 in the loss. The Lady Coyotes took an 8-4 lead early in the third set and tied the match at 19-19 after a
Makayla Snyder kill. However, CSI closed the match on a 6-3 run to earn the victory.
Snyder led Southern Nevada with 11 kills, while
Danielle Bryson finished with 10 kills. Both
Laityn Sarna and
Meredith Bautista posted highs of 18 assists.
Tylee Fuller had a team-high 16 digs in the loss.
Southern Idaho will advance to play USU Eastern in Friday's Region 18 semifinals.
