Men's Soccer: Currently sitting on a two-match losing streak, the CSN Men's Soccer program will hope to regain momentum with a home match against Colorado Northwestern Community College.
After opening Scenic West play 3-0-1, Southern Nevada lost matches to No. 1 Salt Lake and USU Eastern last week. In a matchup with CNCC earlier in the season, the Coyotes posted a 4-2 win over the Spartans.
The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Cristo Rey St. Viator in North Las Vegas.
Women's Soccer: A strong victory over USU Eastern to close a weekend homestand last week has given the Lady Coyotes much-needed momentum entering a home match this week.
CSN will host Colorado Northwestern at Cristo Rey St. Viator on Thursday, entering with a mark of 4-2 in Scenic West play. The Lady Coyotes earned a strong 10-0 win over CNCC to open Scenic West play earlier this month, and are coming off a 3-1 win over USU Eastern last Saturday.
Southern Nevada coach
Jocelyn Roach said her team is focused on improving this week, despite who the opponent is.
"Although we beat CNCC the last time we played them, we still cannot take any game lightly the rest of the season," he said. "We will practice all week as if we are playing one of the top teams in the league."
With the league hitting its midway stride in the season, the Lady Coyotes are focused on practices staying unique-and-productive.
"Between myself and my two assistant coaches, we are all always bringing something new to the table each week, and this has been very beneficial in keeping things fresh," Roach said. "I think it's so important for the players to hear from three different voices. I really strive as the head coach to keep my assistants involved in training sessions, so that the players are challenged and never bored."
Volleyball: Southern Nevada will take to the road this week for a match with one of the NJCAA's top-ranked programs.
CSN will travel to play at No. 4 Snow College, with the Lady Coyotes hoping to improve after falling to nationally-ranked USU Eastern last weekend. Southern Nevada earned a strong win over Colorado Northwestern in the league opener.
Lady Coyotes coach
Jessica Diehl said her team is excited for the challenge of playing a highly-ranked opponent like Snow.
"We are expecting for this to be an extremely tough match as they out-size us and out-experience us," she said. "It should be a fun battle."
The focus for Southern Nevada, with Scenic West play firmly underway, is to keep practices engaging after a long preseason, Diehl said.
"During season, we have different phases we go through," she said. "This allows us to keep things fresh because, as we enter new phases of the season, the drills change and give us a fun and fresh feel."
