The Lady Coyotes entered play Sunday hoping to extend its two game winning streak and continue to build momentum in the teams final test before conference play in a doubleheader versus the College of the Desert Roadrunners.
Sophomore
Dejah Rogers stepped into the circle in game one fresh off SWAC pitcher of the week honors for her complete game four hit, six strikeout shutout victory two weeks ago.
Rogers continued her mastery of the Roadrunners, tossing four dominant innings of one hit softball to improve to 2-1 on the season and extend her scoreless innings streak to ten.
The bats were hot from the start for the Lady Coyotes, striking for five runs in three of the teams four offensive innings and producing a season high seventeen hits.
Jinger Meuir and
Kara Simpson led the charge offensively as the duo combined for seven hits, five runs and six RBI's while reaching base in all eight plate appearances.
Catcher
Taryn Southerland had a productive 2 for 2 day that resulted in a pair if RBI's and
Alexa Campbell,
Emily Guthrie,
Daryan Meade and
Mackenzie McBride each chipped in with one RBI apiece.
CSN extended its win streak to three with a 16-1 victory over College of the Desert, evening its record to 4-4 on the year.
Shonda Badayos took the ball in game two looking to earn her third victory of the season and pitch her team over the .500 mark for the first time since opening day.
Badayos allowed two runs and two hits in the top of the first inning as the sophomore struggled to locate her pitches early, but eventually would settle in to strike out five hitters over four innings of work.
Kara Simpson launched her first bomb of 2017 in the bottom of the first on her way to a 7-8 day at the plate, resulting in her more than doubling her season RBI total (9) and increasing her team leading batting average to .645 .
The contest remained competitive until the bottom of the third inning, when the Lady Coyotes erupted for its biggest offensive inning of the season.
CSN sent sixteen hitters to the plate, lighting up the Roadrunners for thirteen runs and twelve hits to put this game to bed once and for all.
Mackenzie McBride paced the offense with four RBI's, and the trio of
Chandie Perez,
Kara Simpson and
Kiana Burnett tallied a pair of RBI's each.
CSN defeated COD 15-6 to extend its win streak to four games and improve its season record to 5-4 heading into conference play.
