HENDERSON, Nev. (October 18, 2021) – After a week of no home contests, the College of Southern Nevada Athletic Department will host a single home contest while its Cross County and Soccer programs take to the road.

CSN will host a Volleyball match on Saturday inside the CSN Sports Center, marking the lone on-campus event for the Coyotes this weekend. CSN Men's-and-Women's Soccer will close their respective regular seasons on the road at Salt Lake and USU Eastern.

Cross Country: Southern Nevada will compete in its final preseason meet this weekend, running the 'Titan Invitational' in Southern California.

CSN has placed well in a variety of meets, routinely downing NJCAA and NCAA foes alike. This weekend's competition will again feature a mixture of college foes.

Coyotes coach Bryan Astudillo said his team is focused on this week's competition.

"We are very excited for our regular season finale this weekend," he said. "Our athletes have been training hard, and we will be running on a fast course and against some NCAA Division-I programs. It should be a good day for some fast times for our runners."

After running a variety of courses throughout the year, CSN has had the opportunity to run at different elevations and in different locales. Part of the preparation for success in an event is course preparation, according to Astudillo.

"I always do my research and find out what the courses consist of so that I can adjust my training leading up to that race," he said. "We've had a very good schedule this year, having two weeks in between meets. Therefore, it allows us to prepare for the surface we're racing on. If the course will be all grass, we will practice on grass for our long run and tempo runs. If the course contains rolling terrains, then Red Rock and Lone Mountain become our main practice locations."

Men's Soccer: CSN Men's Soccer will take to the road for the conclusion of the regular season, facing No. 1 Salt Lake and USU Eastern.

The Coyotes earned a strong wins over Truckee Meadows and Community Christian in their last pair of contests, finishing with a multi-goal win over Community Christian. Now CSN will look to earn revenge over No. 1 SLCC, who picked up a 3-1 win over Southern Nevada in their last matchup. Additionally, Southern Nevada lost a 3-2 decision to USU Eastern in their first contest.

Southern Nevada and Salt Lake will play Thursday, while the Coyotes will play at USU Eastern Saturday.

Women's Soccer: The CSN Women's Soccer program will try to overturn one of its worst losses of the season this week, facing off against No. 6 Salt Lake and USU Eastern.

Southern Nevada will rematch with No. 6 Salt Lake, who defeated the Lady Coyotes by a 5-0 margin earlier in the season, on Thursday at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. CSN will also play at USU Eastern. The Lady Coyotes earned a 3-1 home win over USU Eastern in their first matchup.

CSN coach Jocelyn Roach said her team is well-aware of this week's challenges.

"This week will be a tough travel week," she said. "SLCC has always been a team we struggle against, although they have had their upsets this season. We really just want to compete well against them and give ourselves some momentum for the weekend matchup vs USU Eastern. I feel confident our players are ready for the matchups."

With this week being the end of the regular season, Roach said her program also has its eyes on what could potentially be coming in postseason play.

"We want to be prepared for postseason play, so playing well and having our players ready going into post season both mentally and physically will be key this next week," he said.

Volleyball: The Lady Coyotes will host one of the nation's top programs inside the Lifetime Activities Center this week, hosting No. 10 Snow College on Saturday.

Southern Nevada is coming off a strong 3-2 win at Colorado Northwestern, in preparation for a rematch with Snow College. CSN lost a 3-0 decision to Snow in their first contest this season.

Lady Coyotes coach Jessica Diehl said her team respect Snow's success.

"We are gearing up for Snow," she said. "They have slowly dropped down in rankings but will still be great competition for us. We have been studying their film to help us navigate how to win. We will do our best with matchups to put us in the best position as possible to win."

While the CSN season has featured adversity, Diehl noted her team's resilience in her weekly media comments.

"Saturday's win at CNCC showcased how tough we are with a team full of freshmen," she said. "As we prepare for Snow, we will be focused on our side of the court. Having the home court advantage will definitely make a difference in our performance."

CSN and Snow will play at 1:00 p.m.
